How do I get a New York medical marijuana card?

If you are a New York resident and have a qualifying medical condition, you may be eligible to apply for a New York medical marijuana card. What are the qualifying conditions for medical marijuana in New York?

Patients diagnosed with any of the following conditions are eligible to apply for a NY medical marijuana card:

• Chronic Pain
• PTSD
• Neuropathy
• Inflammatory Bowel Disease
• Epilepsy
• Parkinson’s disease
• Huntington’s disease
• ALS
• Cancer
• HIV/AIDS
• Multiple Sclerosis
• Spinal Cord Injury with Spasticity
• Any condition for which an opioid could be prescribed

What is a caregiver?

A caregiver is a person who provides basic assistance to a medical marijuana patient. This often involves helping the patient obtain and administer their medicine, but can involve any number of other activities in which the patient may require some additional support due to their medical condition. Under New York law, the patient may designate two caregivers who may visit the dispensary and make purchases on the patient’s behalf. Caregivers can also accept a delivery for a patient.

How do I appoint a caregiver?

Patients may designate a caregiver when they register for their card with the Department of Health. The caregiver must then complete their own registration in order to receive a caregiver card.

Are patients permitted to cultivate medical marijuana?

No. New York’s medical marijuana law does not permit home cultivation.

Will New York dispensaries accept medical cards from other states?

No. You must have a New York-issued medical marijuana card in order to purchase medical products at New York dispensaries. You can visit and purchase from our hemp CBD selection without a card.

What medical marijuana products are permitted in New York?

Approved forms include: solid or semi-solid dosage forms (such as capsules, tablets, and lozenges), metered liquid or oil preparations (for vaporization or oral administration), metered ground plant preparations, and topicals and transdermal patches. Under the law, smoking is not permitted and the regulations prohibit edibles.

Where does the marijuana come from?

All of our products are made in New York at licensed cultivation centers. The facility is carefully regulated by the Department of Health and must follow strict guidelines to ensure product safety. Medical marijuana products cannot be acquired from any source other than the licensed and regulated facilities.

How will my privacy be protected?
Patient records will be maintained by your doctor and the Department of Health. Strict rules protect the privacy of these records, including the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996. Your identity and patient status in the medical marijuana program may never be disclosed to anyone without your prior authorization. We take patient privacy very seriously and will gladly answer any questions or concerns you have about this important issue.
