If you’re interested in getting an Ohio medical marijuana card, the following steps will guide you through the process. The card is your key to the dispensary and we look forward to serving you.
Step 1: ELIGIBILITY
If you live in Ohio and you have a qualifying medical condition, you are eligible to apply for your medical marijuana card. Patients diagnosed with any of the following medical conditions are eligible to apply for a patient certification:
- Chronic pain
- Crohn’s disease
- Ulcerative colitis
- Tourette’s syndrome
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Spinal cord disease or injury
- Sickle cell anemia
- Hepatitis C
- Chronic traumatic encephalopathy
- Epilepsy or another seizure disorder
- Parkinson’s disease
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Traumatic brain injury
Step 2: PHYSICIAN RECOMMENDATION
The next step is to obtain your doctor recommendation from a physician who is registered with the OH Medical Marijuana Control Program. When discussing medical cannabis with your doctor, it’s important to be honest about your health situation and explain why you believe medical cannabis treatment will be beneficial for you. If your physician agrees to recommend medical marijuana, they will create a profile for you in the Patient Registry and submit your recommendation. Please note that your physician will also need to see your valid OH driver’s license, OH identification card, or US passport when setting up your profile.
Step 3: PATIENT APPLICATION
Once your physician recommendation is submitted, you’ll receive an email allowing you to login to the Patient Registry. You must then complete your application and pay the application fee. The fee is $50 for patients and $25 for caregivers. Information on discounted fees for low income patients or veterans is available here.
Step 4: MAKING PURCHASES
Once your application is submitted and approved, you’ll be able to download your medical card and begin making purchases at the dispensary.
