Timeless Remedy for Renewal

May 8, 2015

Our patients are at the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to deliver safe, high quality medical products to those who need them. Michael Abbott, our Executive Chairman, and I were both committed to these objectives when we first sat down to discuss creating the first truly mission-based medical marijuana company. But we also agreed that we wanted to be more – we want to be a company that revitalizes the wellbeing of our patients and our communities – our home.

Since day one we have committed ourselves to this goal. We aim to champion rejuvenation and drive renewal in communities throughout the United States. We accomplish this in many ways.

Our corporate goal is to donate up to 15% of net income to charitable organizations and programs. Whether it’s by contributing to national veteran assistance programs such as Stop Soldier Suicide or making a donation to the Merrimack Food Pantry, even though our priority is to focus locally, we also look to support national philanthropic organizations. As a commitment to ensure patient access, we offer subsidies to those patients who require assistance, including senior citizens, military veterans, the terminally ill and those in financial need. We partner with our communities through formal community host agreements, by creating jobs, collaborating with labor organizations, working with law enforcement to improve public safety and contributing to private and public programs that function at the ground-level.

A great example of recent activity is our support for the “At Risk Youth Summer Jobs Program” in Bloomington, Illinois. Through our Illinois subsidiary – Curative Health – we provided the anchor gift to the city of Bloomington to help create summer job opportunities for at-risk youth. Though, as a company, we are not active in Bloomington itself, we were so impressed by the project, local leadership and how closely the program echoes our values that we decided to support this crucial initiative. The City Council of Bloomington unanimously approved our donation on April 27th and we are thrilled to be part of such an important project. The opportunity to earn a living is not something anyone should take for granted. Learning the value of employment and developing the pride and confidence that comes from hard work is a great way to build a successful foundation for life.

We are grateful to be part of these projects and we look forward to many more opportunities to contribute to the revitalization and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
